Every month, over 3weekly session (Wednesday’s 8-9pm), using Zoom, we remotely deliver and support our “Roxy Says” project for children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing (7-11yrs).
Who should join:
The project is for parents/adults/carers or professionals with children 7-11yrs old. Schools are providing tools to educate children, but we believe this education needs to be taught/reinforced at home. Parents may not have the skills required to do this, so we developed a project and supporting workbook to assist parents at home.
Why are we running these workshops?
We are creating a space where we will ultimately be building resilience for children before they start secondary education. Reported instances of self-harm in children are growing each year but now mental health has started to become a priority. This is essential to prevent poor coping strategies for children which can develop into their youth and adult life. Of course, we all believe this would never happen to our kids, they’re still children, why would we expect such issues. If you are already pro-actively investing time to educate your child at home, then you are already on the right track. If you’re unsure and want an inobtrusive way to support and protect them, you are in the right place.
What is required
You will need the workbook and to invest time reading and doing the activities with your child. Approx. 30mins every 3/4days for 3weeks. In addition, we request your feedback at the end of the project.
We have three online sessions over zoom, detailed below:
Starting the project
We set expectations and share an understanding of what we are trying to achieve and Q&A’s. Establish a baseline which we will individually measure progress from.
Mid-way review
A review of the progress we are making, keeping on track and ensure we maintain the momentum. A further discussion of how to approach the remaining chapters.
Ending the project
Final session to complete the project, ensure feedback is completed, review comments and offer certificates of completion for children.
We will guide you through the process, so you know what to do.
Children (and parents) can gain emotional vocabulary, human connection, establish an open relationship where children can share their emotions before they start to experience anxious experiences and influences in secondary education.
We give children tools for resilience later in life. Promote human connection in relationships, where emotions and feelings are easy to talk about. Establish a space where discussion is open with a safe adult, within the family unit, in a safe environment.
We are a charity and there is a cost for resources but we will deliver this free for the first 15 participants. If you would like to get involved or have any questions, complete the contact form below. We will make contact before sending the project workbook.
