What are Affirmations?

Affirmations are "Positive phrases or statements that improve negative thoughts".  We say them daily to reinforce them in our minds.

This audio will explain and help you to start creating your own affirmations. This tool can transform your state and wellbeing.

How Do We Create Affirmations

for Ourselves?

Affirmations have three parts.

  • 1.  They need to be a short statement we say about ourself.  We will use the example "I am confident".

  • 2.  We need to visualise what it looks like ie. What do we look like when we are confident? When we say the words we need to also see the picture at the same time.

  • 3.  Lastly, we also need to imagine what it feels like. In our example, we need to know what it feels like to be confident, saying the words at the same time, and seeing ourselves being confident. We do all three together and this is an affirmation. We then repeat the affirmations daily to make it settle into our minds.

PRACTICAL EXERCISE

Think about what your affirmations could be. Practice saying them and attaching the picture and the feeling. When you are happy with it, write it in the workbook. You can have more than one and you can add or change them. They could even start with "I am... or "I feel...", "I do.....", "I love....", "I speak.....", "I see...…" or "I understand....".

I have given you one "I am confident" but there is space for many more. If you are stuck here are a couple to start you off. "Today, I will do my best" and "I accept myself for who I am"

Remember, affirmations should be done early every day. Then your inner voice will tell you good things and always be helping you.

Write your affirmations into your workbook and read them every morning.

Well Done for learning about this skill!
